Genesis 1:3 (KJV) “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
The New Year, just like the beginning of creation, must begin with God speaking to us, and not with us depending on the arm of flesh. The beginning of any change in our lives starts with a word from God. According to Genesis 1:2 (KJV), “the earth was without form and void”, but then, the Almighty God spoke, saying, “Let there be light”: and there was light.” Similarly, in the New Year, things are likely to look chaotic, shapeless, and confusing, if we don’t seek to have “a word” from God, daily. Ministerial assignments, academic and career pursuits, business engagements, are likely to be unproductive because of not engaging with the wisdom of God’s word. You know that someone can be physically alive, active, and busy, yet still be without form and void. Life may be moving, but not meaningful. That shall not be your testimony, in Jesus precious name.
Now, a major problem in the creation story was “darkness”: “darkness was upon the face of the deep.” Darkness primarily symbolizes “ignorance” or the “lack of knowledge.” Someone has said, “Every man’s mountain is his ignorance.” The primary solution to darkness is LIGHT. Biblically, light speaks of divine revelation and truth. Light is “insight” derived from God’s word. The Psalmist said, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105). The Lord Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32; KJV). If there is anything we must be so passionate to receive in this New Year is the “Word of God.” A word from God can put an end to agelong problems. Go for the WORD! Glory to God!
