Mat 6:21 (KJV) “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Your treasure is whatever you value most. It is what you invest your time, money, strength, thoughts, and affection in. The heart is never neutral; it always gravitates toward its greatest value. Our Lord Jesus Christ teaches that your heart will follow your treasures, not the other way around. What you consistently prioritize will quietly but surely shape your desires and decisions. If your treasures are earthly, your heart becomes earth-bound. Similarly, if your treasures are heavenly, your heart is lifted God-ward.
Our Scriptural text reveals what we truly worship, not by our words, but by our investments. We may claim God as Lord, yet our treasure tells the honest story. It is important to answer the following questions: What excites you most? What worries you most? What do you protect most fiercely? These often point to where your treasure truly lies. Earthly treasures are temporary and fragile; they demand constant guarding and produce anxiety. Heavenly treasures, such as obedience, generosity, faith, eternal impact, anchor the heart in what cannot be lost.
