Luke 2:36 (KJV) [36] “And there was one Anna, a prophetess... [37] And she was a widow ... which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
There is something unique about the service of prophetess Anna. Her service to God was one of little visibility. Very little was known publicly of this widow. Her ministry of fasting and prayers was more in the secret place. There is a lesson to learn from the service of this woman of God; it is that God values faithfulness more than visibility. A quiet life devoted to Him can still be deeply prophetic. It is unfortunate to note that the purpose of some persons in coming into the gospel ministry is “fame.”
Now, I have observed that some persons desire to be in very visible areas of Church ministries like the Ushering Unit, Music and Worship ministry, etc. There is nothing wrong with being a part of any ministry in the Church, but if your motive of joining that ministry or department in the Church is so that you can be seen or so that you will be visible to people, then, you’ve missed it. It is better to be like John Baptist, who “grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel” (Luk 1:80). It is better to be in the secret place of the Most High (Psa. 91:1), waiting on the Lord, renewing your strength, so that you can mount up with wings as eagles; run and not be weary or walk, and not faint (Isa. 40:31). This is wisdom! May the LORD our God purge us of every wrong motive in our service to Him, in Jesus precious name.
