Matthew 6:10 (KJV) “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
The second part of this prayer the Lord Jesus taught His disciples to pray is that God’s will “be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” The Passion Translation Bible version (TPT) says, “... cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth ...” Another Bible version says, “... let Your desire be done on earth as it is in heaven” (TS2009). Dearly beloved, what do you want most in this life? I suggest to you that one of your greatest desires should be “to see every purpose of God fulfilled on earth” as shown in the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. It should form the major part of your daily prayer points. This really, is what the Lord Jesus Christ meant when He said, “Seek ye first, the kingdom of God and his righteousness” (Mat. 6:33).
Now, God’s kingdom is in manifestation wherever His authority is acknowledged, His righteousness upheld, and His power expressed. This aspect of the Lord’s Prayer is a prayer for the overthrow of self-rule, sin, and Satan’s influence, and for God’s governance to take precedence in hearts, homes, churches, and nations. It is an appeal for heavenly culture to invade earthly realities. The LORD God is indeed pleased with men and women whose desires, priorities, and pursuits are aligned with the fulfilment of His will on earth, just as it is perfectly accomplished in heaven. Such men and women pray, labour, and make decisions with heaven’s values in view. Those who seek God’s will above personal ambition become instruments for divine purposes.
