Genesis 2:25 (KJV) “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”
Adam and Eve were both NAKED and were not ASHAMED; this was before they fell into sin. Physically, “they were both naked” means they were without clothing. Spiritually, the deeper meaning is that they had no moral guilt, no fear of exposure, no self-consciousness, and no corruption of desire. “Naked” here signifies a state untouched by sin. Their conscience was clear before God and one another. Also, there was no pretence and no masks. They lived in complete transparency.
Now, because of their complete transparency and sinless life, Adam and Eve were not ashamed. Shame is the fruit of sin. Where there is no sin, there is no shame. Proverbs 14:34 says, Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. A godly life is a life of honour, dignity, and peace that surpasses all understanding. Healthy relationships thrive where truth and trust are present. Be wise! To be truthful and honest with your spouse is wisdom. The Bible says, “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour” (Eph 4:25; KJV). May our marriages be free from lies and hypocrisy, and may we renounce the hidden things of dishonesty in Jesus precious name.
